James is a classically trained actor from the famous Rediffusion Television (now Asia TV) Artist Training Centre. In Hong Kong and Taiwan, James has played many roles on television and stage, including appearances on the Hong Kong variety show, "Enjoy Yourselves Tonight." Notable stage credits include King Creon in Jean Anouilh's "Antigone," the prodigal son in "Sunset, Sunrise," and as the Japanese Ambassador in "The Legend of the Junior Warlord."

Recently in the US, James played the Tai-Chi Master in Mat Zo's music video "Pyramid Scheme Ft." and as the Community College Dean in Marc Forster’s "The Kite Runners."

He can also be seen as a match maker in Julie Chow's "The Good Daughter" and as the father in Hubert Wang's "The Favorite Son.” Commercials and print ads include a principal role in a TV commercial for Orchard Supply Hardware, the doctor in “A Fresh Start” for the San Francisco Social Services Department, a retired car customer in a BMW TV commercial, a business partner in an internet commercial, Inframatix, and a rich businessman in a TV commercial for Total Wealth Solutions.
 
With a degree in Liberal Arts, James is also a veteran interpreter. When he is not acting, he likes doing interpreting. He enjoys bridging up differences in languages and cultures. In addition to his passion for acting, James loves popular music and writing. He has authored a screenplay, poems, and song lyrics.
